About the Role

The Network Engineer plays a crucial role within the Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering department at Fusion Integrated Solutions (FIS). This position is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our growing network infrastructure. The role is fundamental to ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of our internal and client-facing networks, which underpin all of FIS’s service offerings, from cybersecurity and managed services to complex system integrations for our high-profile clients across various sectors including government, defense, and energy. 

As a hands-on technical expert, the Network Engineer will work with a variety of technologies from key partners like Cisco, Fortinet, and Dell to deliver robust and scalable network solutions. This role requires a proactive approach to network management, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other technical teams. The successful candidate will be instrumental in upholding FIS’s reputation for technical excellence and reliable service delivery in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and deploy scalable and secure LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. 
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points from vendors like Cisco and Fortinet. 
  • Monitor network performance and integrity, identifying and resolving issues proactively to ensure high availability and reliability. 
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff and other teams on network-related issues. 
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure network compliance with security policies and standards. 
  • Manage network address allocation and perform regular network audits. 
  • Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of new networking technologies and solutions. 
  • Support system integration projects by providing network expertise and ensuring seamless connectivity.

 

Candidate Attributes

  • Proficiency in network administration and network design. 
  • Experience with hardware/software installation and decommissioning. 
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching (Catalyst, Nexus). 
  • In-depth knowledge of firewall and security technologies (Fortinet, Palo Alto). 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under broad guidance. 
  • A proactive mindset towards continuous learning and professional development. 

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required; CCNP is highly desirable. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a network engineering role. 
  • Demonstrable experience working in a multi-vendor network environment.
